THE CHOSEN EXEMPTION
Illegal Biolabs, AI Propaganda, and the Architecture of Untouchability A Dimensional Report on What Happens When a Foreign Government Operates Inside Your Government

“The most dangerous form of censorship isn’t banning speech — it’s making certain questions unaskable.”
Exempt (adjective, from Latin exemptus*, “taken out from”)*: Free from an obligation or liability imposed on others. Not subject to the rules that govern everyone else.
Asymmetry (noun): A lack of equality or equivalence between parts. When justice flows in one direction but not the other.
Capture (noun, political science): The process by which a regulatory or government body loses its independence and begins advancing the interests of the entities it was created to oversee — or, in extreme cases, the interests of a foreign power.
Let’s begin.
THE FACTS, NO SPIN
Three stories. This week. All pointing at the same structural problem.
Story One — The Biolab That Almost Wasn’t a Story
On January 31, 2026, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police and the FBI raided a residential property near Washington Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard in East Las Vegas. Inside: laboratory equipment, refrigerators stacked with vials, over 1,000 containers of unknown substances, suspected biological materials. Pathogens. An illegal lab in a neighborhood rental house.
At the center of it: Ori Solomon (also spelled “Salomon” in court documents), a 55-year-old Israeli national in the United States on a non-immigrant visa, managing over 30 short-term rental properties in the Las Vegas area.
The raid also turned up multiple firearms — rifles and handguns — at his residence.
His non-immigrant visa status explicitly prohibits him from possessing firearms. This is a federal offense. He was charged accordingly.
On May 11, 2026, federal prosecutors filed a motion to dismiss the criminal complaint — without prejudice. The U.S. Attorney’s Office stated that “after a careful review of the evidence and additional information provided by defendant, the Government has concluded that the interests of justice require dismissal.” No further elaboration.
The property where the biolab was found is owned by a Chinese national linked to an identical operation in Reedley, California — where authorities had previously discovered an unlicensed laboratory manufacturing HIV, COVID, and pregnancy tests.
The federal gun charges: gone. The state hazardous waste charge in Clark County: still pending. Solomon is due in Las Vegas Justice Court on June 4, 2026. His passport has been surrendered. He cannot leave the country.
For now.
Story Two — The Influence Operation Inside the White House
Former White House correspondent and OAN Pentagon reporter Gabrielle Cuccia has gone public with a detailed account of being approached — through what she describes as a “publicly very Christian and widely perceived as America First” intermediary — to write scripts for AI-generated videos on behalf of a pro-Israel nonprofit called Vine and Fig Tree (VFT).
VFT had recently met with Sebastian Gorka — Trump’s counterterrorism czar at the National Security Council — at the White House.
The intermediary allegedly told Cuccia: “They have to do this on behalf of them because they don’t want it to look like it’s actually coming from the White House.”
Investigative Substack journalists GenXGirl and Mel independently reviewed VFT’s internal documents, which Cuccia shared. What they found:
VFT operates through two 501(c)(3) nonprofits incorporated in New York in 2024.
It raised $3 million in its first year — almost entirely from undisclosed donors.
It funneled $850,000 to a sister grantmaking entity, which distributed major sums to Combat Hate Foundation, Morona Leadership Foundation, and aligned groups.
It maintains dossiers — framed as “intelligence briefs” — on American conservatives who have criticized Israeli policy: Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Joe Kent, Nick Fuentes, Jackson Hinkle, the Hodge Twins, Mario Nafal.
The dossiers argue these individuals are not expressing genuine political views but are foreign-influenced assets — possibly paid by Russia, Iran, China, or Qatar.
One internal comment reads: “There are two wings of the Republican party. The majority lies here — the pro-Israel side. This is where you should be if you want to get reelected.”
The operation also deployed strategies including burner profiles, burner ad accounts, AI-generated propaganda content, troll content briefs, and engagement testing.
At the center of the analytical work: Zach Shapiro — former IDF commander, former Twitter/X Trust and Safety executive, VFT-linked analyst — who has appeared on pro-Israel media calling for “digital borders” and government intervention to suppress what he frames as foreign-influenced anti-Israel voices online.
Sebastian Gorka — the man VFT met at the White House — has, in separate reporting, named Tucker Carlson and Nick Fuentes as people he isn’t sure qualify as conservatives, suggested they may be appropriate subjects for counterterrorism scrutiny, and authored the Trump administration’s 2026 Counterterrorism Strategy, which ProPublica described as ranking threats by politics rather than intelligence assessments.
Gorka is also publicly and explicitly a staunch defender of Israeli policy — having denied Palestinian statehood exists, defended Israeli military operations during Operation Swords of Iron, and given extended interviews to Israeli media describing his role as advancing Israel’s interests inside the U.S. national security apparatus.
Story Three — The Precedent That Was Already Set
You may remember this one: Tom Alexanderich, an Israeli government official, was caught in an FBI sting operation in Las Vegas attempting to have sex with a 15-year-old girl. He was allowed to fly back to Israel. His court appearances have been repeatedly postponed. He is, functionally, free.
Not a Venezuelan national. Not a Somali national. Not a Mexican national. An Israeli government official. Caught by the FBI. Gone.
LAYER 1: THE SURFACE READING
Three incidents. Illegal biolab run by an Israeli national — federal charges dropped. Pro-Israel influence operation coordinating with a White House counterterrorism official to target American citizens who criticize Israel — buried as a “Substack story.” An Israeli government official caught by the FBI attempting to abuse a child — quietly allowed to leave.
The surface pattern: a two-tier justice system in which Israeli nationals — and particularly those with ties to Israeli government structures — receive treatment that is structurally unavailable to anyone else.
LAYER 2: THE BLIND SPOTS
Blind Spot 1 — The “charges dropped without prejudice” sleight of hand
“Without prejudice” means prosecutors can refile. It’s technically not exoneration. But it is freedom — freedom to disappear, freedom to leave, freedom to become effectively unreachable. Anyone who watched the Alexanderich case understands that the legal machinery can be made to run perpetually in neutral once the political will to push it forward is absent. A pending state charge for hazardous waste disposal is not the same thing as federal prosecution for operating a biolab containing pathogenic material and illegally stockpiling weapons. Those are very different levels of legal seriousness — and one of them just evaporated.
Blind Spot 2 — What “AI-generated video on behalf of the White House” actually means
Cuccia’s account, if accurate, describes a domestic propaganda operation: AI-generated content, apparently originating from the U.S. government’s national security apparatus, distributed through a nominally independent nonprofit with undisclosed donors, designed to look organic. This is not merely influence peddling. If confirmed, it would represent a foreign-aligned organization using the administrative machinery of the U.S. government to produce covert propaganda targeting American citizens who hold constitutionally protected political opinions. That is not a media story. That is a structural constitutional crisis.
Blind Spot 3 — Gorka’s own eligibility to hold his position
Sebastian Gorka has reported ties to the Vitézi Rend — a Hungarian far-right organization with historical Nazi-era connections — which he allegedly failed to disclose on his U.S. naturalization application. Senators Durbin, Blumenthal, and Cardin pressed the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security about this in 2017. Nothing came of it. He is now drafting national counterterrorism strategy and meeting with pro-Israel nonprofits in the White House. The man potentially overseeing the definition of domestic terrorism in the United States has his own unresolved questions about the integrity of his citizenship application — and those questions were raised by the same government he now serves.
Blind Spot 4 — The Reedley connection
The Las Vegas biolab is not an isolated incident. The property was owned by a Chinese national linked to the Reedley, California operation — a case where a separate unlicensed lab was discovered manufacturing misbranded medical devices and storing biological materials. These are connected cases in a network that spans state lines and involves at minimum two foreign nationals. That the federal prosecution of one of its key figures collapsed with a vague reference to “additional information provided by the defendant” — with zero public explanation — deserves far more scrutiny than it has received.
Blind Spot 5 — The FARA problem hiding in plain sight
The Vine and Fig Tree operation, if Cuccia’s account is accurate, describes a foreign-aligned influence campaign — with an IDF veteran at its analytical center, IDF-connected funding streams, and a direct line to the Israeli government’s media strategy — operating inside the United States without apparent Foreign Agent Registration Act disclosure. The Esther Project (a separately documented Israeli government influencer operation registered by Bridges Partners LLC under Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs) paid American influencers $7,000 per post. VFT appears to operate in a parallel but distinct lane — through a U.S.-incorporated nonprofit structure that insulates its Israeli funding ties from legal visibility. FARA enforcement against pro-Israel entities has historically been essentially nonexistent. The contrast with the prosecutorial zeal applied to, say, Chinese-linked influence operations is stark.
LAYER 3: THE REFRAME
The question everyone is asking: “Why do Israeli nationals get special treatment?”
The question we should actually be asking: “What does a country look like when a foreign government has successfully captured enough of its institutional infrastructure that the capture itself becomes invisible?”
The Vine and Fig Tree story is not primarily about Israel. It’s about the mechanics of capture. Here is the architecture:
A foreign government invests heavily in building relationships with American political, media, and religious figures over decades.
Those figures — some paid, some ideologically aligned, some both — penetrate domestic institutions: media, nonprofit sector, political fundraising, national security appointments.
Criticism of the foreign government is systematically reframed as a security threat — as foreign influence, as antisemitism, as domestic extremism — using the language and legal tools of the very institutions that have been captured.
American citizens who raise objections find themselves listed in intelligence briefs, targeted for social media suppression, and potentially — if Gorka’s counterterrorism framing holds — classified as terrorism-adjacent.
This is not a Jewish conspiracy. Jewish Americans overwhelmingly did not vote for the politicians enabling this, do not benefit from it, and are frequently among its most vocal critics. This is a specific political-religious-financial network — Christian Zionist evangelicals, Likud-aligned Israeli government actors, American defense industry interests, AIPAC donor infrastructure — that has captured specific pressure points in the U.S. system.
The question is not whether any individual is good or bad. The question is structural: who does the U.S. government serve when it drops federal charges against an Israeli national with a biolab and illegal weapons, while deporting Venezuelan asylum seekers at scale?
The answer to that question is visible in the behavior. Not in the statements.
ABSURDIST INTERLUDE: THE BRIEFING
Scene: A situation room. A screen reads “DOMESTIC THREAT ASSESSMENT: Q2 2026.” A man in a lanyard that says WWFY AND WWKY stands at the podium.
OFFICIAL: We have identified several individuals whose views on foreign policy constitute a potential counterterrorism concern.
AIDE: Which foreign country?
OFFICIAL: (pause) The one where they’re critical of our ally.
AIDE: And the man with the biolab full of pathogens and five firearms?
OFFICIAL: We’ve reviewed the evidence.
AIDE: And?
OFFICIAL: We’ve reviewed the evidence.
AIDE: The charges have been dropped.
OFFICIAL: The interests of justice required it.
AIDE: Tucker Carlson is more of a terrorism risk than a man with vials of unknown biological material and illegal rifles.
OFFICIAL: (not blinking) We’ve reviewed the evidence.
The aide writes this down. Outside, a Venezuelan family is loaded onto a plane.
DIMENSIONAL STORYTELLING
Individual Scale
A Venezuelan family in Houston, no criminal record, father worked construction, children born in the U.S., deportation order executed this spring. They did not have a $3 million nonprofit whispering their names into the ear of a White House official. They had a case number.
An Israeli national in Las Vegas, managing 30 short-term rental properties on a non-immigrant visa, connected to a biolab containing unknown pathogens, in possession of multiple illegal firearms. Federal charges: dropped. Court date: June 4. Passport: surrendered, for now.
The distance between these two outcomes is not the rule of law. It is the politics of exception.
Institutional Scale
The Counterterrorism Strategy released by Sebastian Gorka in May 2026 was described by ProPublica as ranking threats by political alignment rather than intelligence assessment. Islamist groups — the historic first concern — now rank second to Latin American cartels. American dissidents who criticize Israel appear in the dossiers of a nonprofit that just met with the White House. The man who wrote the strategy is himself the subject of unresolved questions about whether he legally holds U.S. citizenship.
This is not the failure of institutions. This is institutions functioning exactly as captured institutions function.
Civilizational Scale
The United States has, over 75 years, built a global brand around the rule of law, equal justice, and democratic accountability. That brand has always been imperfect — the gap between stated principle and practiced reality has always existed and has always been the site of struggle. What is different now is not merely hypocrisy. It is the systematic inversion of the accountability architecture: the tools designed to protect citizens from foreign interference are being deployed against citizens who notice foreign interference.
When the apparatus of counterterrorism is turned against people asking legitimate questions about FARA compliance, and when federal gun charges against a man found with an illegal biolab quietly disappear, the brand does not just lose credibility. It becomes actively deceptive — a cover story for something else entirely.
WHAT CONNECTS THESE STORIES
The TYT transcript asks: “Does Trump have anything to say about that?”
The answer is no — and the silence is the signal.
The administration that has produced a non-stop media operation around immigrants as vectors of danger — Somali refugees, Venezuelan gang members, Chinese fentanyl manufacturers — went completely silent on an Israeli national found with an illegal biolab and multiple illegal weapons. The federal charges were dropped. The White House said nothing.
At the same moment, a pro-Israel organization with an IDF veteran at its analytical core was meeting with the White House counterterrorism czar and compiling dossiers on Americans who criticized Israeli policy — framing legitimate political speech as foreign influence operations.
At the same moment, the U.S. government allowed an Israeli government official caught in a child exploitation sting to fly home to a country that will not extradite him.
These are not separate stories. They are the same story about who is inside the protection and who is outside it.
WHAT WE DON’T KNOW (AND SHOULD DEMAND TO KNOW)
What was the “additional information provided by defendant” that caused federal prosecutors to drop the Solomon case? The public deserves this.
Has Vine and Fig Tree filed as a foreign agent under FARA? If not, why not?
Who are VFT’s undisclosed donors?
Is there a formal or informal White House authorization for the VFT domestic media operation described by Cuccia?
What, specifically, has Gorka’s counterterrorism directorate done with the dossiers VFT compiled on American citizens?
What is the status of the Alexanderich extradition request, if one has been filed?
These are not radical questions. They are the questions any functioning free press would have already published on the front page.
THE OPTIMISM — BRIEF, EARNED
People are noticing. Cuccia went public knowing it would cost her. GenXGirl published a documented deep-dive. TYT covered it. You’re reading this.
The architecture of capture depends on invisibility. The more people name the structure — not “Jewish conspiracy,” which is both false and a distraction from the real actors, but the specific network of political-financial-religious interests and the specific institutional mechanisms they’ve used — the harder it becomes to maintain.
The question “who does the U.S. government actually work for?” is being asked, loudly, by people across the political spectrum: by MAGA dissidents being listed in Israeli-funded dossiers, by progressives watching deportations accelerate while biolab charges evaporate, by military families watching apocalyptic theology drive foreign policy.
When a coalition that improbable is asking the same question, something is shifting.
The thing they’re asking is the right thing to ask.
Truth matters. Justice matters. Facts matter. Definitions of words matter.
